Okay, so I’ve been curious about tarot cards for a while, and I finally decided to dive in with the Motherpeace deck. It’s round, which is kinda weird at first, but the art is really cool and, like, powerful feeling, you know? I wanted to really understand what each card was about, beyond just the little booklet that came with the deck.
So, first thing I did was grab the deck and just shuffle them. I’m a very hands-on person, I have to feel things to learn them. As I shuffled, I just tried to clear my mind and, I don’t know, connect with the cards? Sounds kinda woo-woo, I guess, but it felt right.

Then, I started pulling cards one by one. I didn’t do a specific spread or anything, just one card at a time. I’d look at the image, really try to see what it was showing me, and then I’d read the description in the booklet. The booklet is okay, it gives you some basic ideas, but I wanted more.
Diving Deeper into Meanings
That’s when I started looking up stuff online. I found a few different websites that had, like, way more detailed explanations of each card. Some of them even talked about the different interpretations depending on if the card was upright or reversed (upside down). It was a lot of info!
To keep track of everything, I grabbed a notebook and started writing. For each card, I wrote down:
- The name of the card, obviously.
- My first impression of the image. What did I feel when I looked at it?
- The basic meaning from the booklet.
- The more detailed meanings I found online. I tried to summarize them in my own words, so it wouldn’t just be copying and pasting.
- Any connections I saw to my own life. Like, did the card remind me of anything going on with me right now?
It took a while, a few sittings, actually, to get through all 78 cards. It wasn’t something I could rush. Sometimes I’d only do a few cards, and then I’d have to stop and, like, process it all, you know?
After I went through all the cards, I started doing some simple readings for myself. Just one-card pulls, to see what the “energy of the day” was, or three-card spreads for “past, present, future”. It’s still all very new to me, but it’s been really interesting to see how the cards I pull seem to relate to what’s happening in my life.
It is worth to practice daily, then you will find the connections between your daily life and the cards!
I’m definitely still learning, but this process of really digging into each card’s meaning has made me feel way more connected to the Motherpeace deck. It’s not just some pretty pictures anymore; it feels like a tool I can actually use to understand myself and the world around me a little better.
