Unboxing the Tarot of the Cat People: A fun, easy review.
Alright, let’s talk about this… this… “Tarot of the Cat People,” yeah? Sounds fancy, but lemme tell ya, it’s just a bunch of cards with cats on ’em. Don’t get me wrong, I like cats, them furry little critters, always rubbin’ against your legs when you’re tryin’ to cook supper. But cards? Never really got the hang of ’em, too busy milkin’ the cows and feedin’ the chickens.
So, this Karen Kuykendall woman, she drew all these pictures. Cats doin’ all sorts of things. Some look happy, some look sad, some look like they’re plottin’ somethin’ – you know, typical cat stuff. And then there’s this Stuart Kaplan fella, he wrote down what the cards supposedly mean. Standard tarot meanings, he calls ’em. Sounds important, but I reckon it’s just guessin’ like we do when the rooster crows at noon.
U.S. Games Systems, Inc., they made the cards. Guess they make all sorts of games, city folk got too much time on their hands, I tell ya. Now, people are sayin’ this deck is out of print. Means they don’t make ’em anymore, I guess. Makes it sound fancy and rare, like grandma’s old quilt, but it’s still just pictures of cats.
I heard some folks, real Tarot enthusiasts they call themselves, and cat lovers too, they just love these cards. Say the pictures are somethin’ special, got symbols and stuff. Me? I see a cat, I see a cat. Don’t need no fancy book to tell me what it means. If it’s purrin’, it’s happy. If it’s hissin’, it’s mad. Simple as that.
- Origins: I ain’t sure where this deck came from exactly, some place in America I reckon. Karen lady, she just drew ’em, that’s all I know.
- Themes: Well, it’s cats, mostly. Cats doin’ human things, cats bein’ cats. And I guess there’s some kinda story behind each card, but I ain’t got the patience to figure it all out.
Some folks online, they do reviews of these cards. Talk about the art, the meanings, whether they like ’em or not. They even make videos about it! Imagine that, makin’ a video about some cat cards. World’s gone crazy, I tell ya. They say it’s got striking imagery and rich symbolism. I guess that means the pictures are pretty and there’s more to ’em than just cats. But like I said, a cat’s a cat to me.
One person said this deck was “meant for them.” Said they were touched by it. Well, good for them, I say. Different strokes for different folks, as the preacher used to say. Me? I’m touched by a good cup of coffee in the mornin’ and a warm fire on a cold night. Cats are nice and all, but they ain’t nothin’ compared to that.
Now, they sell these cards on somethin’ called Amazon. It’s like a big store, but you don’t even have to leave your house. They got everything on there, even these cat cards. And people, they write reviews on Amazon too. Tell you if the cards are any good, if they’re worth the money. Some folks complain, some folks rave. It’s all the same, just a bunch of folks talkin’ about cats and cards.
So, would I recommend these Tarot of the Cat People cards? Well, if you like cats and you like cards, then sure, why not? But if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to tell you the future, I reckon you’re better off lookin’ at the weather. Them clouds tell you more than any cat ever could. And if you ain’t a cat lover, well then, just stick to lookin’ at the clouds, it’s free after all.
Artwork and descriptions are what they call it, fancy words for pictures and words. But at the end of the day, it’s just a deck of cards. Don’t get me wrong, the cats are cute, some of ’em even look like old Whiskers we used to have on the farm. But still, cards is cards, and cats is cats. That’s all there is to it.
Anyways, that’s my two cents on these cat cards. Take it or leave it. I gotta go feed the chickens now, they’re gettin’ mighty restless.
